RLOTTandAngelinaTARVER.jpg and RobertLOTTandAngelinaTARVER.jpg

Above is an image of my great-grandfather, Robert Lamar LOTT, Sr. (July 17, 1889 - November 26, 1926) and his second wife, "Lina", Angelina TARVER Ables (1893 - November 26, 1926) died in a tornado. He lingered a few days. Some of "Lina", Angelina TARVER's children by her 1st marriage to John ABLES may have also died in the tornado. Everyone who died were buried in a family grave near near Monroe, LA?

["Lina", Angelina TARVER first married John ABLES Abt. 1912. Children: Leroy ABLES, Lillie ABLES, Georgia ABLES, and  Johnnie Pearl ABLES.]

My grandmother gave me this picture, above photo and said that it was of her "Daddy". I believe that he was referred to as "Big Daddy". When I asked her if that was her mother, I believe that she snickered and said, "No that was my step-mother. I asked if her step-mother treated her well and she chuckled, "No, she was mean." It was like we were two teenagers, bad mouthing step-mothers in general.

If you want to download this image, choose:

  1. RLOTTandAngelinaTARVER.jpg (44 Kb) This is what the photo looked like before I did any retouching for those of you who want a rough idea what the original looked like. This is the image on the right.

  2. RobertLOTTandAngelinaTARVER.jpg (191 Kb) This image has been retouched and is a little lower resolution than the one below. This is good enough resolution for the Web. This is the image on the left.

  3. RobertLOTTandAngelinaTARVER.tif (2051 Kb or 2.051 Mb) This image not displayed because it is so large. It is a little higher resolution file which is better for printing out on special "photo" paper, but get the best results increase the dpi value to about 250 - 300 and then enlarge the file to the appropriate print size. That is, 5 by 7 inch; 6 by 10 inch, etc.. if your browser won't open this image, save it to your hard disk, for example in your C:\Temp folder, then open it with a graphic viewer or graphic editor.

  4. To get the best results, I would need to run the original image over to Kinetics (here in Louisville) where they could scan the image at higher resolutions (for about $15) than I was able to (I could only get 200 dpi.). Then, they would retouch the digital image at $90 an hour, save it on a Zip or 1Gb JAZ diskette, and then finally print it on professional photographic paper. Then, if I wanted more copies of it, I would just take in the diskette.

Later, Ollie Lucy KNIGHT married William W. SEALS (Abt. 1892 - ?) in 1921, and then "Big Poppa" Elbert WOMACK (December 26, 1893 - November 18, 1965) in 1933: They had a daughter: Dorothy WOMACK (private) of Crossroads, MS; Dorothy WOMACK married a HUMPHREYs. I last saw Dorothy WOMACK in a nursing home near Crossroads, MS in about 1992 when my grandmother "Sallie" LOTT Hathorne took me to visit her. They had a very warm and moving visit. I heard later that she was released from the nursing home.
